Attack Check

When performing an attack, you must roll the dice to determine Hit Strength of the attack. You roll one d20 die and add the appropriate bonuses. If the result is equal or greater than the target’s Defense, the attack hits.

For every additional 3 points above the required Defense, the hit increases its Hit Strength by one (to a maximum of 6).

Attack Bonus

Critical Rolls

Rolling a 20 on a d20 means that the action was executed nearly perfectly. If that happens roll an additional d6 and add its number to the result (unless the Success Level reached its maximum of 6).

When you’re attacking the target with a melee or ranged weapon you roll d20 and add three following bonuses:

Bonus From Attribute

Melee Attack = d20 + Bonus from Strength + Melee Combat Proficiency + Weapon Proficiency

The attribute responsible for melee attacks is strength and for ranged attacks is perception.

Ranged Attack = d20 + Bonus from Perception + Ranged Combat Proficiency + Weapon Proficiency

Melee or Ranged Combat Proficiency

During character development, you can choose a Talent that gives you an overall proficiency bonus in all melee (or ranged) attacks. There are three levels of proficiency: Basic, Advanced and Master. If you’re untrained, your proficiency bonus is +0. If you’re trained, your proficiency bonus equals +2, +4 or +6 respectively.

Weapon Proficiency

During character development, you can choose a Talent that gives you a proficiency a chosen weapon type.

There are three levels of proficiency: Basic, Advanced and Master. If you’re untrained, your proficiency bonus is +0. If you’re trained, your proficiency bonus equals +2, +4 or +6 respectively.

Agile Attack

This is a special type of attack (either melee or ranged) that must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be done with a light or finesse weapon

  • The target must not be more than 2 spaces (4m) away

When performing an Agile Attack, you can add bonus from Agility instead of Strength or Perception. However, you do not gain a damage bonus due to having high attribute.

Two Weapon Fighting

It is not uncommon to fight with two weapons at the same time. This makes it easier to hit the enemy, but with less precision.

When you Attack with two weapons, roll for two attacks separately, then choose the one with better Hit Strength (not damage).

Double Hit

If you roll the same number on both d20 dice you can hit with both attacks. In this case, the opponent can only use a reaction against one of them.
